Tried it three times. Got the Meyer vampire woman, anne rice and someone else who is about as far from my reading and writing choice range it's not funny.
Who would you rather be compared to Barry? Sounds like you have the money-making style of #1 best sellers.
You're lucky Rosalie. I love Dan Brown's style and it would be very nice to be universal and immortal like the classic Poe and Kipling.
According to the excerpt from my YA historical fantasy, my syle is like JK Rowling - naturally- lol, and for my WIP urban mystery (which I consider to be a chic-lit-cosy) my style is like Stephen King. Who would have thought a few sirens in the night could be so frightening. lol.
I tried it twice - first sample got me J.K. Rowlings -- The second one, James Joyce! I imagine one would get a different reading for every new section or chapter.
I tried again. Now this is really serious. I believe! The analizer says I write like Vladimir Nabokov.
and here's the proof:
This is a test to see how wonderful my writng style might be. So, "Will I be famous, will I be rich, what holds the future for me? "Does this question pose any literary greatness?" asked the wayward writer who knew she should be editing but escaped into a moment of self indulgence.
It would be great hey, to actually write like some of these authors. I wonder what their criteria is for analyzing style? Hi Carlo and welcome to our blog!!
A pleasure Rosalie. Great to be on board. Years ago I wrote a short story and the feedback I received was that my style of writing was similar to Dennis Wheatley. I'm no where near that good !! LOL

ReplyDeleteI tried it a few times with different scenes... Dan Brown, Poe and Rudyard Kipling... None of whom I would have named as influences.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this Rosalie. It's fun.

ReplyDeleteTaking key words to analyze genre or style then apply famous author's names to fit the bill, simple concept, but still fun. Not to be taken seriously.
ReplyDeleteIf you get the answer you want, you can take it seriously hehehe.

See, it's true!! lol
LOL... so does that mean you write in Russian?
ReplyDeleteProbably, but with an Aussie dialect. :)

Well, mine came back with Anne Rice. To be honest I've never read her books so am not sure if that is a compliment or not. Tricia
ReplyDeleteShe is a best selling author. Wrote 'Interview with a Vampire' among a lot of other best sellers.
ReplyDeleteNot bad company. :)
It is fun but I don't really believe it - I did two excerpts. I write like Stephen King and Oscar Wilde.
ReplyDeleteFunny, twice it came up with H.P Lovecraft. I wish I did have his talent!
