Japan's earthquake and Tsunami

I think I speak for all of us here at Aussie Authors at Work...dreadful scenes and heartbreaking news has again shocked and dismayed us. Our hearts and prayers go out to the thousands effected by the frightening and devastating catastrophy. For those with family and friends lost in the horror, our deepest sympathy. For those waiting to hear...prayers and hope.

We have only just caught our breath after reeling from the New Zealand tragedy. Australia is still cleaning up after the floods and cyclone. Our peaceful world seems to be in turmoil. All we can do is offer our help and love while watching in disbelief and dispair.

  1. I join with you, Rosalie. Our thoughts and prayers are with the poor people in japan and the Pacific Basin.
I can't take my eyes off the TV screen with all of the devastating pictures that keep coming. I was shocked to hear about the nuclear reactor damagage and that the quake shifted the main island of Japan 2.5 metres westward.

Also the quake caused our planet to shift 10 cm on its axis with the result that our rotation has sped up, shortening our days by millionths of a second. Apparently this happens with all major earthquakes, so this isn't planetary shift isn't as scary as it first appears.

  2. Dreadful, dreadful, Rosalie. It's the stuff nightmares are made of. My heart goes out to the poor Japanese people and those who have lost loved ones and family. The nuclear reactor damage is another nightmare on top of the rest. Laurel
